Celebrating the Civic Holiday through Voter Registration

September 16, 2025, is National Voter Registration Day, a day to encourage all citizens to be active participants in our democracy by registering to vote. As a library community partner, you can help celebrate National Voter Registration Day.

Here are some ideas on how you can celebrate National Voter Registration Day:

  • Host a Voter Registration Drive

If you have signed up to host a voter registration drive in your library, make sure that you follow state and local guidelines around voter registration. Download your state’s voter registration drive guide to ensure that you remain nonpartisan while registering voters.

  • Display National Voter Registration Day Resources to your Patrons

Offer free posters and stickers in your library to get more voters engaged and aware about voter registration. Print your stickers, posters, and more here!

  • Make Voter Registration Accessible

Download our Disability Voting Rights Week library guide to learn how you can remain accessible to voters with disabilities. From creating social media posts to hosting accessible events around voter registration, it’s important to ensure that your digital and physical spaces are accessible to all.

You can also promote and protect democracy by encouraging voter registration beyond National Voter Registration Day. As a hub for civic engagement, your library space can facilitate nonpartisan political dialogue among community members, serve as a resource to combat misinformation and disinformation, and encourage voters to cast their ballots on Election Day as informed citizens. In a political climate that faces threats and violence, your library can serve as a safe space for all community members to be civically engaged.
