Civic Learning Week 2025

EveryLibrary is a proud partner of Civic Learning Week.

EveryLibrary is a proud partner of Civic Learning Week, taking place on March 10-14, 2025. As democratic centers within communities, civic education is an important part of public libraries.

Civic Learning Week encourages community leaders to come together to teach and highlight the importance of civic education. Take action for your library to participate in Civic Learning Week in 2025.

Get Involved

  1. Connect with our partners at Civic Learning Week to learn more about their initiatives and to download toolkits.
  2. Plan an event at your library. Encourage your patrons to participate in Civic Learning Week by hosting a civics program.
    • Build your team of volunteers, patrons, and library staff to help host your program.
    • Have an end goal to encourage more patrons to be civically informed.
    • Choose your theme, if any. Civics covers such a wide array of subjects, it’s impossible to cover everything in one week. Picking a theme can help focus your planned activities for the week. You’re welcome to tap into the national theme— Civic Learning: Many Voices, One Nation—or select something more relevant for your community.
  3. Partner with local schools/educators to support civic learning efforts during Civic Learning Week and beyond.
    • Provide library materials and book displays to celebrate Civic Learning Week.
    • Adapt story hours and existing programming to highlight the importance of civic learning and the role of libraries as places of civic learning.
  4. Share civic learning resources in your newsletter and on your website.

Civic education is an important part of a healthy, functioning Democracy. Ensure that your library plays its part in creating a more informed society.
