VoteLibraries encourages all public libraries to serve as catalysts for civic learning by celebrating National Voter Education Week from October 7-11, 2024. This national campaign highlights the importance of civics in promoting and protecting constitutional freedoms at every level of government. 

VoteLibraries wants to encourage public libraries and campus libraries to be a part of Vote Early Day on October 29, 2024, to empower voters ahead of the November 2024 elections.

The EveryLibrary Institute, a 501c3 organization dedicated to building public support for libraries, partners with the League of Women Voters and Vote411, Nonprofit Vote, and the American Association of People with Disabilities REV Up to provide public librarians and library-focused organizations with tools and resources to participate in election administration efforts through its VoteLibraries initiative.

VoteLibraries and Nonprofit VOTE are releasing a new Voter Engagement Guide for library-focused nonprofit organizations to support and encourage their non-partisan participation in elections and civic engagement. 

On September 17, 2024, we celebrate National Voter Registration Day, a day dedicated to protecting democracy by registering all eligible citizens to vote.

“Library Staff Fired,” “Libraries Closed,” and “Parents Sue Over Books.” These are headlines that have increased in alarming quantities over the past few years as conservatives continue their affront against libraries. Just add the city or state, and you’ll see that it’s a nationwide phenomenon led by false ideologies against DEI, LGBTQ+ communities, and anti-racist movements. 

The EveryLibrary Institute is thrilled to announce the release of our new Disability Voting Rights Week - Library Partnership Guide developed for our VoteLibraries initiative in partnership with the American Association for People with Disabilities (AAPD). This essential resource is designed to help libraries across the country actively participate in Disability Voting Rights Week (DVRW), taking place from September 9–13, 2024, and to support ongoing civic engagement efforts for people with disabilities throughout the year.

VoteLibraries is proud to partner with the League of Women Voters and Vote411 to help your community register to vote, check their voter registration, and find what offices and issues are on your local ballot. 

Voters in 2024 will face an unprecedented number of voting restrictions in more than half of the states, according to a report by the Brennan Center for Justice.

On August 1, we celebrate National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, a day dedicated to recruiting the next generation of poll workers who will help safeguard our democracy. As trusted members of your community, your librarians are well-positioned to serve as poll workers for Election Day.
